Why we do it
Good health underpins the wellbeing of all Australians. It is a critical enabler determining a person's capacity to lead an active and productive life.
ur organisation was founded in the late 1970's because of heightened concerns about the misuse of drugs and alcohol amongst young people, and the immediate, sometimes tragic consequences of such poor health behaviours.

How well we do it
In 2010 we worked in 3,200 schools. Each of these schools self-selected to partner with us, purchase our services and make available our program to 610,000 students in their care.
It would be reasonable to conclude that schools so select because our program is relevant and appropriate to their students and is delivered consistent with contemporary curriculum and pedagogical practices.

How are we financed?
Collectively, across the organisation, in 2009/10 we spent approximately $12.4 million, 83% of which was incurred in direct program delivery costs.
Funding is raised through schools, the parents and carers of the students participating in our program, Gorvernment Grant funding and self generated fundraising activities.

How are we governed?
Life Education Australia is a company limited by guarantee. It has an independent Board. It owns and continues to develop the Life Education program. Its members include its affiliated State/Territory members, each of which have the exclusive rights as well as the obligation to implement the program in their respective jurisdictions consistent with guidelines specified by Life Education Australia.
